- Attendance and participation (15%) If you miss more than two sessions (one week), you will be docked a full letter grade. In class, participation is important. Do your best with the Spanish.
- Twice-weekly blog and comments (25%) The blog posts (200-300 words, in Spanish; details on how to set up a blog are here) are due on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. They should comprise your reactions and comments on the upcoming reading, plus at least one question for class discussion. Do not worry about imperfect Spanish: as long as I can understand you, it’s fine. You will also write comments on at least two of your classmates’ blogs; these comments are due by the time your next blog post is due.
- Group research/editing project (35%) The group research/editing project will be a contribution to the Antología abierta de literatura hispana. It will include an annotated bibliography, in which you find relevant articles/books and provide brief summaries of them.
- Final exam (25%) The final exam will cover material studied across the semester. It will feature brief definitions, short commentaries on excerpts from texts that we have read, plus a short essay.
